What are forced air systems?
Forced air systems use heated or cooled air to regulate the temperature in your home. This air is “forced” by a blower through a series of ducts, and comes out of “registers” into the living areas of your home.
Forced-air cooling and heating systems are popular, and many existing and new homes are specifically built with ducts for this kind of system.
What types of homes are these systems right for?
Forced air systems require ductwork to work. If you don’t have ductwork in your home, you’ll either need to have ductwork installed, or you should consider a ductless system. At Wagner, we’re proud to install Mitsubishi ductless cooling and heating systems.
How they work
- A forced air system uses a series of ducts to circulate air. In the summer, the system cools the air; in the winter it heats it.
- A typical forced air system will circulate all of the air in your home 3-5 times per hour.
- Components found in the systems include a blower, heat exchanger, burners, auxiliary heat kit, air filter, evaporator coil, and various controls, such as a thermostat.
